Artist’s Bio
Joonhong MIN is a contemporary artist who lives and works in London and Seoul. His works reimagine the buildings of an urban city through drawings and sculptural forms and through the use of minimal colours, mainly black and white.

He received a BFA and MFA in painting from Seoul National University (2014) and an MFA with Distinction in Fine Art Media from SLADE School of Fine Art, University College London (2016) one of the leading art institutions in the UK that promotes experimental oriented art. This provided MIN with an introduction to the core themes that he explores in his work, namely notions of success and greed. MIN sees a never-ending competition within success orientated individuals living in major cities and this cultivates a volatile and anxious environment for the artist. His methodical composition of lines formed across a flat surface are dependent on the type of architecture which vary from building to building.

MIN has delved into the world of installation and visual media. He makes use of unused wrapping paper and building materials that were formerly used to create the cities. He collects this wastage from the streets and reassembles the accumulated materials according to his own vision. Through this method, he curates three-dimensional installations that question the collective and personal urban memories embedded within the founding objects to alter the people’s perception of the city.
